I have just finished a new piece!
A treefrog clinging onto a reed. The frog is made out of wax but I made the reed out of resin because its stronger and easier to get to a very smooth finish.
Off to the foundry now in Basingstoke to cast it in bronze!
I've started work on a new piece a stalking Leopard!
I've also started playing around with timelapse videos to better show my work in progress, enjoy!
The otter is complete!
Ready to go to the Sculpture Castings foundry in Basingstoke.
Swimming otter measures 52 x 14 x 12 cm
Happy new year!
Otter commission is coming along, the wax is nearly complete, need to somehow make a stand!
Work has begun on the recent otter commission
Wire armature complete, ready to add on the wax.
May - August 2016
This summer I was fortunate enough to travel for 4 months in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia!
Whilst this was not a dedicated sculpture 'research' trip, I did manage to see a lot of wildlife and gain inspiration for future pieces.
One of my favourite animals out there was the Brown Pelican.
Towards the end of our trip we spent 4 days in the Bolivian rainforest, near a town called Rurrenabaque.
It was an incredible wildlife watching experience, we were fortunate enought to see Squirrel monkeys, Howler monkeys,
Capuchin monkeys, Anacondas, hundreds of alligators and Capybaras.
We were also allowed to swim with the Pink Amazonian dolphins, and tried our best at Piranha fishing.
This was our noble vessel for the 4 day river trip.
Every morning these little Squirrel monkeys would swarm the camp to clean up after breakfast!
I look forward to attempting to make one!
